A « port garden » in Cannes

by Faragou

A “Port garden” or how the Faragou Agency is designing the new face of Port Canto in Cannes.

After several projects in the city of Cannes, the Faragou Agency is working at Port Pierre Canto. In the aspiration of a new architectural and landscape scope, the marina is given a new face.

The development project requalifies the port entity to integrate it into the city and provide the interface between the sea, the recreational waterway (more than 500 rings) and the magnificent Square Verdun park which overlooks it. The heritage and emblematic quality of the landscape are enriched by the creation of a large “Grand Large” square, made of massive stones. It is planted with umbrella pines and other date palms. A fun pool and specific furniture complete the seaside atmosphere of the new esplanade. Three shops are integrated with wide, shaded terraces by sails. The buildings fit naturally into the supporting structure, which highlights the Croisette for nearly two kilometers.
The design is also based on the creation of two widely open accesses to the Park. The requalification of the former Harbor Master’s Office, the definition of three new commercial attractors (a delicatessen, a restaurant, a pub) as well as offices dedicated to port personnel.

The overall project is due for delivery in 2021.
