A landscape architect since 1978, he has retained that spirit quick to wonder, that curious eye that keeps him from being insensitive. Alain Faragou lives his profession by seeking forms of balance between Art and Nature, which he renews every day.
When he talks about his job, in two words: complexity and passion. « Garden is too often equated with architecture and the environment. However, the landscape is always the result of a symbiosis between cultures, time and the living world and through them, I identify myself as a mediator. »
A nature that he tames while respecting it. On the French Riviera, perhaps more than anywhere else, garden lovers were great travel lovers. Hence a mixing of cultures and a profusion of plants, brought back from the four corners of the planet, which still multiplies the possibilities for creation today. It is up to the landscape architect to recognize them and to succeed in the wise mix of creations and gardens that make dreams come true. In the public as in the private sector, Alain Faragou has signed contemporary projects, such as the Fernand Braudel park in La Seyne-sur-Mer or the development project of the RD 6202bis in the Var valley and other more confidential projects. , such as the garden of the Automobile Club de Monaco, the Grand Jardin de l’Île Sainte-Marguerite or the garden of a private mansion in Paris. But his best professional memory, he owes it to a man, Roberto Burlé Marx, Brazilian landscape architect, who said of him : « He is a true artist who succeeds in conveying emotions. »
« Meeting him was like a moment of grace. He had a vision on a planetary scale and has always had a visual artist’s approach. I was fascinated and I admit that he influenced me in my work. » What about his ideal garden, the one he would dream of one day ? Rather, it would be a series of thematic gardens scattered across the territory, a sort of contemporary follies resonating with the sites and environments.
In the meantime, Alain Faragou evokes a more concrete project: the creation of the Provençal gardens in Juan-les-Pins, in a modern spirit, with sets of mirrors and large arbors. An invitation to the imaginary travel that should see the light of day by 2016.
