After several projects in the city of Cannes, the Faragou Agency is working on the restructuring of Port Pierre Canto. In the aspiration of an architectural and landscape renaissance, the marina is given a new face.
Originally, an unattractive space: a parking lot and an access road, serving as a public space, an isolated shop and harbor office; It was clear that the place had become too confidential, not very accessible, and yet ideally located in the continuity of the promenade of the Croisette. Returning this place to Cannes residents and boaters was the challenge initiated by Daniel Lisnard, mayor of Cannes. The development project, designed by Agence Faragou, requalifies the marina and ensures porosity between the body of water and the magnificent park of Square Verdun which overlooks it.
The rhythm of the voids and solids of the facade is punctuated by the large windows and the cladding of exotic wood. The design is also based on the creation of two new widely open public accesses. The first gives off a new perspective and a gentle path, with the Park. The second connects the new square to the promenade de la Croisette. The requalification of the former Harbor Master’s Office and the creation of three new commercial attractors (a delicatessen, a restaurant, a pub) as well as the integration of offices dedicated to port personnel are an integral part of the project. Designed and conceived by Agence Faragou, the project elegantly demonstrates that architecture, public space and landscape are one.
The work is in progress. The Place Grand Large takes shape and the space has become pedestrian again. The overall project is due for delivery in 2021.
